Revolution Entertainment Systems' Fixed Odds Betting Terminals Based on Elo Touch Technology

Robust and reliable touchscreen for licensed betting office environments (LBOs)

New Affordable Rear Mount 15" LCD Touchmonitor from EloMarch 2006 - Elo TouchSystems, the global leader in touch technology and a business unit of Tyco Electronics, has announced that its touch technology is used in 7000 fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs) deployed in 2100 William Hill betting shops throughout the UK. The terminals, designed and produced by Revolution Entertainment Systems (Revolution), provide customers with access to a wide range of exclusive betting events such as Quickbet including Racing, Cards, Darts and Wheel plus 20p Roulette designed by Revolution Games.

The Rainmaker FOBTs were designed to customer specifications and incorporate Elo's 1749L Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) rear-mount touchmonitors that feature wide viewing angle and Elo's clear glass IntelliTouch surface wave touch technology for the utmost in optical quality. Ted Robinson, Managing Director of Revolution commented, "By partnering with Elo, our network of bespoke FOBTs offers the most reliable and robust gaming and betting technology available on the market, as well as providing consumers with a compelling game play experience."

Mike Sigona, Elo market manager, commented, "The rear mount 17" touchmonitor, as used in the Rainmaker FOBTs, features a unique injection-moulded minibezel with a watertight seal that makes them ideal for use in just this kind of application - gaming/amusement machines in public areas. The integrated solution - touchscreen, LCD, seal, stable form factor and full agency approvals - makes it extremely convenient for customers like Revolution when it comes to integrating the touch technology into terminals like the Rainmaker."

Elo's 17" and 19" rear mount touchmonitors feature top quality panels with high brightness and contrast ratio and wide viewing angles. The IntelliTouch clear glass surface wave touchscreen maintains graphics quality and clarity, reducing light transmission only slightly and preserving colour. "The wide viewing angle and brilliant display combine to grab the user's attention," added Sigona, concluding, "Elo gaming touchmonitors deliver the reliability and robustness required by Revolution for this application and provide a high quality touch experience for the customers." Revolution designed and manufactured the Rainmaker FOBT to William Hill's specifications incorporating a second screen above the player's touchscreen that is used to deliver additional information such as previous results (e.g. the last five spins on Roulette) or static advertising. These screens can also be used to deliver live football matches to the terminals allowing customers to experience and enjoy additional events while using the machines.
