Press Release

Elo TouchSystems Improves Existing Product Lines For the Industrial, Retail, Hospitality and Medical Market

Hannover (CeBIT), March 15, 2007 – Elo TouchSystems, the world leader in touch technology and a business of Tyco Electronics Corporation, announces the expansion and improvement of its popular touchmonitors and touch technologies for the industrial, retail, hospitality and medical markets. Elo is in the best position to maximize the benefits their products bring to all applications in these diverse markets, from a dusty factory floor to the sterilized environment of the operating room.

A New Touch Technology for the Retail and Hospitality Market
At CeBIT, Elo shows the latest touch technology APR (Acoustic Pulse Recognition) which represents a major breakthrough. APR is a completely new and unique touch technology that combines the benefits of other major touch technologies. Finally, POS applications can have an all glass touch technology with an extremely high optics and no wear that also works with a credit card, pen, and fingernail. In addition, it is resistant to water and other contaminants on the screen, and provides palm rejection during signature capture.

In addition, Elo will be showing various models and sizes of the 1000 and 3000 series – the 1000 Series provides touchmonitors at a cost effective level, and the 3000 Series are touchmonitors designed for touch from the ground up, and available in a choice of technologies, colors and optional integrated accessories such as magnetic stripe reader and customer display.

Elo will also premier the 1522L monitor. This monitor, aimed at POS applications, is designed like the 15" from the 3000 Series but has the panel specifications of the 1000 Series. The 1522L comes with an optional MSR.

Accuracy and Ease for the Medical Market
One highlight is that CeBIT will be the debut of the 1928L and 1528L desktop touchmonitors (19" and 15" respectively), to be shown for the first time in Europe. These medical touchmonitors conform to the international standard IPX1 for a drip-proof enclosure, which means that the monitor can be sterilized, a necessary feature for its presence in a medical setting. The medical certifications further include IEC 60601-1. In addition, these touchmonitors have a high specification panel for leading edge optical performance.

Elo TouchSystems has also expanded the technologies on its standard products to bring an even greater benefit to its customers, providing them with more choices, improved viewing, and improved performance in various applications. For example, their popular chassis touchmonitors are now available with AccuTouch 5-wire resistive and CarrollTouch infrared technology.

Ruggedness and Stability for the Industrial Market
Elo’s touch technologies show a ruggedness and reliability which makes them extremely well suited for use in industrial settings where dust and liquids are prevalent. The latest advancements will be featured at CeBIT, including the IP65 sealing option for the 1537L monitor, which means that it is protected against dust and water jets. Also available for the first time will be line of chassis monitors with a remote OSD connector (on–screen display, for adjusting the display settings of the monitor), available on the standard product. The range of technologies for chassis touchmonitors has also expanded, featuring AccuTouch five-wire resistive, SecureTouch anti-vandal Surface Wave and CarrollTouch Infrared. Finally, Elo has also enhanced its AccuTouch technology to withstand more intense environmental conditions, such as higher temperature and humidity.
