CeBIT 2008 - Tyco Electronics Expands Range of Touch Monitors
with Exclusive APR Touch Technology
CeBIT, March 2007 – Tyco Electronics is proud to announce they are continuing to roll out the innovative Acoustic Pulse Recognition touch technology - debuted at CeBIT 2007 - on the Elo TouchSystems touchmonitor product range. In addition to the popular desktop range, APR is now also available on the new large size open-frame models, with the new touchcomputers soon to follow. The breakthrough technology, well suited for a variety of markets and applications, brings significant advantages to the Elo product line.
Advantages of APR
The breakthrough APR technology combines the best features of other touch technologies into one package. Thanks to its unique combination of benefits, APR is an excellent technology to use in a multiple of settings, particularly for retail and hospitality. It combines high optical quality with durability of pure glass with drift-free stability, and can be activated by any stylus, be it a fingernail, pen, or credit card. It also continues functioning when it has water, grease, or other liquids splashed on it. Finally, APR offers palm rejection during signature capture. Michael Bartelmess, Director of Product Management, comments, “All of these features make touchmonitors with APR particularly well-suited for applications such as check-out lanes, loyalty systems, kiosks, point-of-sale, hospitality, and light industrial environments.”
Elo desktop touchmonitors and touchcomputers
Tyco Electronics’ Elo TouchSystems business has expanded their entry-level 15” and 17” LCD desktop models to include APR touch technology, after first having introduced the technology on the high end 1529L 15" model. APR technology will soon be made available also on the recently launched touchcomputers. Elo all-in-one touchcomputers form a space-saving touch solution with computing functionality integrated in a standard monitor. The latest model, a 17" touch computer comes with field-installable Magnetic Stripe Reader, finger print recognition, speaker bar with or without barcode scanner, and customer rear display options.
Touchmonitors for kiosks and large digital signage applications
With features such as high optics and input flexibility (finger, gloved hand, pen), APR technology is also great for point-of-information kiosks, self-service and interactive digital signage. APR is therefore also being rolled out on all of the Elo open-frame monitors including the newly launched wide-screen monitors in sizes from 20” to 32”.
