On December 16th, 2019, Elo will release a minor update that includes enhancements and fixes related to content scheduling, user-experience (UX) and device-side messaging. There is no downtime associated with this release. Below is a list of enhancements and fixes included in this release.

New – Schedule Content Start/End Time
You can now schedule content to be played continuously (24 hours a day) with a specified start/end time.

New - Pinch and Zoom
You can now enable a pinch and zoom feature in advanced web settings on the cloud. When enabled, web app users can zoom in and out of screen images on the device.

New - Cordova Browser Support for WebView
You can now select the Cordova browser engine in addition to native Android and Crosswalk platforms. Websites often perform differently based on the engine selected. Cordova extends capabilities of native WebView for HTML/CSS features, video playback and cross platform compatibilities.

New - List View Option in Content and App Library
You can now choose between two view options: list or gridview. List view shows additional information like Content/Schedule Name, Versions and Schedule Start/End Times.

Enhanced - APK Details in App Library
You can now see more App details in the Content Properties page accessible by clicking content icon in the library. SHA Hash Code, File Size, Content Type (APK, URL, Bundle, etc.) and Creation/Last modified Data/Time is now displayed.

Improved - Device-Side Messaging
You will now see a more comprehensive error message shown on the device-side when something is not quite right. The device-side message will help users understand how to correctly respond to the situation. Please note in certain cases “Site Contact” will be shown. This is configurable by the admin user on the cloud.

OS Updates
You will now be able to update your existing 2.0 I-Series devices running 7.1 Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to 8.1 AOSP (4.44.xx+a). Please Note: 1) min 3.44 required, 2) check app compatibility and 3) revert back to 7.1 is not supported.

Security Updates
Android vulnerability patches and various security updates to I-Series 2.0 (Up-to October) & I-Series 3.0 (Up-to August) devices.

Other Enhancements or Fixes:

  • Enhanced device settings view to include device MAC address
  • Adding OTA size information in OTA software menu
  • Fixed an issue where, in certain cases, default content continues to play over schedule content
  • Fixed an issue where, in certain cases, WebApp will not launch until an Enterprise Reset is initiated
  • Fixed an issue where, in certain cases, when adding large number of devices to a group, content is not pushed to all devices

Method of Distribution
This update will be available to apply via Advanced OTA on December 16th, 2019 and will become the default to update from the device control panel on December 27th, 2019. There is no downtime associated with this update. As always, your devices will never prompt for an update or auto-update. Once the update is available, devices can be updated from the EloView Portal or at the device-level from the EloView Control Panel.
